There are a many variations of the Poker game and Omaha is one of them. Not everyone likes the game, in fact Omaha hi Poker is one of those games you either love or hate.
The exact origins of the game are unknown, but the game was first introduced into a Casino sometime between 1946 and 1982 by a professional Poker player named Bill Boyd. Bill at the time was the director of the famous Golden Nugget Casino in Vegas.
Omaha Poker is split up into two variations, the first is the standard game known as Omaha Holdem or Omaha hi, as with Texas Holdem players only have to make one hand. The other version is Omaha hi/lo where players can make two hands, a high hand and a low hand.
If you can play Texas Holdem then playing Omaha hi poker should not be much of a problem. The Omaha hi game differs from Texas Holdem because the players are initially dealt out four cards instead of just two. The other rule is that players are required to use three of the community cards plus two of the cards they were dealt to create a hand.
If you want to learn how to play the game you should always play for fun until you grasp the basics but if you prefer to play poker for cash then don't bet more than you can afford to lose! Set aside a fixed amount per month and do not exceed. If you cannot afford to set aside money to gamble with - don't.
