Texas Hold'em Poker- Vegas Baby - Vegas

Vegas has always been the Mecca of Poker. Since online Poker has taken off, the No-Limit Texas Hold'em tables have been filled with weak Poker players. Read a couple of poker books, play some online poker, and you will destroy any low-limit table. The lower-limits consist of 1/2NL tables with maximum buy-ins ranging from $100 to $300. On any given night, you could easily win $200 by playing basic poker. You don't need to be Phil Ivey or Mike Matusow to win at poker. Most of your opponents will be too lazy to pick up a book and learn how to play the game. The poker rooms are always filled with players who have no clue what they are doing. Many of the players are on vacation hoping to win some cash playing poker.

Poker is a game of skill and the best players win in the long run. Hone your poker skills and you will crush these low limit games. During the day, you can destroy your opponents at the poker tables for an easy profit. At night, you can take your free money to the best night-clubs in the world. Forget about waiting in line for hours, just take your winnings and make friends with the bouncers. Bottle service is awaiting you with your own private booth. The best part about Vegas is that you are free rolling with poker winnings. Not anyone can go to Vegas and say they made a profit. Poker is a great game with many monetary benefits. Work on your poker game and you can party hard every night in Vegas. On the flight home you will be saying Vegas Baby! Vegas!

Poker, Poker, Poker

Poker has been around for centuries, so how come the sudden boom that has recently taken the Internet by storm?

I'm a big poker fan, and have been for years. I played poker regularly with my friends and family years before the advent of poker online. There were some things that I didn't like about playing with my friends: the first thing was that I had to wait till we got some folk together before we could play, so I usually had to wait till a Wednesday or Sunday evening; second of all, when it started getting late people started dropping off to go home, which left little enough people to play, until within a few hours it was over; thirdly , and sometimes most annoyingly was that if you went all in and went out early in a game you had to sit and watch everyone else play for maybe an hour or more - how frustrating!

These, I believe, are the reasons for the boom in poker popularity. These reasons were the biggest reasons not to play poker, but now when you play poker online you have full control over when you play; when you stop playing, and when you go out you can simply start another game. Because of these features added by the power of the internet, a great game has been allowed to flourish.

The only difficult part about making the progression into the online world of poker is finding out where the best places are to play, and where to stay away from. When I started playing poker online this was the most daunting stage for me. If I'd have known then what I know now I would have been a lot more at ease when I was starting out.

What I have learned along the way is that there are sites out there to help the online poker beginner find out where the best places are to play; which places to stay away from, and which poker rooms are suitable to play in when the poker player fancies a change of scenery. One such site is the poker review site Poker Online UK. This site gives a number out of ten (a poker rank) of the top poker websites on the internet; and gives a description of the sites that it has ranked. This site also provides bonus codes and links from which the poker beginner will get bonus cash when they make a deposit using the code, or signing up through the link.

Another poker review site I found out about is Poker Websites. This site is similar to Poker Online UK, but in a different style. Poker Websites has a number that has been mathematically calculated to rank all of the top poker websites. The last time I was on the Poker Websites site I found out about the new site Poker News that's associated with Poker Websites. Poker News is a new website dedicated to providing online poker players with the best poker news that they want to know about.

Poker has been around for a long time, but it's only now that we enthusiasts have the freedom to play it whenever we want. God bless the Internet!

Poker: Skill or Luck?

Recently I found myself caught up in the age-old debate; Is Poker a game of luck or a game of skill? Most people would agree it is both. However, my debate started when an acquaintance who has never played Poker once in his life declared that buying into a $10,000 Poker tournament was no different than buying $10,000 worth of lottery tickets. In other words, it is 100% luck.

This is obviously not true. If poker were only luck, how could you explain certain players winning much more than chance would allow? Just by allowing folding, the element of skill is added. If I do nothing more than fold poor starting hands, I should be able to slightly improve my winning percentage. Add to that the ability to influence others decisions through different betting strategies and poker is clearly a game of skill to some extent. But it begs the question; what percentage of poker is skill?

The problem with this is that it depends. If you are talking about a single poker hand, luck is much more of a factor than when you are talking about an entire session or many sessions as a total. In a single hand you have to be lucky enough to be dealt a good starting hand and be lucky enough that some else wasn't dealt a better one. If you are dealt KK you wouldn't consider it lucky if the player to your left was dealt AA on the same hand. However, you could still "get lucky" and hit a king on the flop. Even in a single hand, skill is a factor. One can outplay an opponent. It also takes skill to get the most value out of a winning hand and to know when to get away from a losing hand. But, over longer sessions is where skill really shows through.

In a Casino there are many different games played. Poker is played in most Casinos now, but it is unique when compared to other Casino games. In every other Casino game you are playing against the house. In poker you are playing against the other players. No one ever claims the casinos are "lucky" to win so much money. Luck has nothing to do with it. Every game in a casino, from slots to roulette, is set up so the house has a slight statistical advantage. If the house wins only 51% of the time, they are making money. Over many wagers it is a guarantee that the casino will win more than they will lose.

So it is in poker. A skilled poker player need only win more than he loses. No poker player wins every hand, but many win more than they lose. The more skilled the player, the wider the gap will be between amount won and amount lost. Over thousands of hands, luck is not part of the equation; the same way a casino takes luck out of the equation. It may not be possible to measure exactly what percentage of poker is skill in general. However, over many hands, it is possible to measure the percentage of wins due to players skill as compared to the skill of his opponent. If there was no skill involved the win percentage would move closer and closer to 50% the more hands that are played. Anything over (or under) 50% would then be attributable to skill (or lack of skill). For the well skilled player, poker may not even be considered gambling.

How Old is Poker?

One of the oldest Casino games being played today is Poker and the many different types of Poker that are currently being played. Whether online or offline, it is still one of the most popular Casino games out there. It is so popular now that literally hundreds of poker rooms exist online and have become very prolific in the online gaming industry. However, if it is a real Poker game that you want to physically sit in on, then depending on where you are located in the UK, you can usually find numerous live venues doing a simple search on the internet.

One of the more well-known casinos for a Poker Tournament venue is Spielers Casino located in Western Esplanade, Westcliff, Southend. It is situated near the mouth of the Thames Estuary and is also referred to as the Westcliff Spielers Casino, as well as being one of the largest casinos in the UK, and features 7 poker tournaments. The main Poker game that is played here is Three-Card Poker.

The Mint Casino Southend (previously Spielers Casino and Waterfront Casino Club) is another establishment that features a Poker Tournament Essex venue. Three-card poker which is a relatively new twist on the game itself can be played here, in addition to Stud Poker and other versions. The casino is located in the Western Esplanade, Westcliff, Southend area.

The Mint Casino Southend was formerly Spielers Casino and Waterfront Casino Club and was refurbished in 2007. It reopened in October, 2007 under the new name and features the River Card Room (lower level) with its 140-seat capacity. The most common games of Poker played here are Casino Stud Poker, Progressive Stud Poker, and Three-Card Poker. Private card rooms are available.

Another one of the well-known Poker Tournament Essex venues is the Rendezvous Casino at the Kursaal located in the Eastern Esplanade, Southend on Sea, Essex. This casino opened in April of 2001 and has one of the more spacious gaming floors that you will find anywhere in the UK. Casino Stud Poker, Texas Hold'em, and Three-Card Poker are the main poker games played here. On a rather interesting side note, the Fahrenheit bar, located within the casino was the first bar anywhere in the UK to keep beer chilled using the Glycol system.

In addition to the standard casinos listed above, there are also numerous "fun casinos" which would also enable you to set up a Poker Tournament Essex venue. These types of casinos are based on a mobile or travelling format wherein a casino set-up is brought to your venue. No actually money is gambled though, hence the classification as a "fun casino." These do have their niche, however, and are an ideal entertainment venue, especially where charity or fund-raising events are concerned.

Cash is used up front to purchase poker chips and at the end of the evening, when everyone would normally cash in their remaining chips, the money is simply kept the group or organisation sponsoring the event and then deposited so a check can be written to the charitable organisation as a donation. The concept is extremely popular in the UK and several companies are listed online for hire. Some of the more well-known ones are Against All Odds, Funtime Fun Casinos, and High Class Fun Casino. So if you aren't into gambling away your hard-earned cash, yet have a charitable heart, then this would be a Poker Tournament Essex venue to investigate.

Really Fun Poker Tip # 2: Gauge Your Opponent and Play the Game Based On Them
Different players have different game styles so base your game play on them. If a player is tight, place larger bets. If the player likes to call all the time, don't bet too often; but if you do, bet big. Whatever style your opponent employs, have a style that can counter their game. Do not stick to one strategy for every game because this will obviously make your opponents read you more easily.

Just like in real life, playing poker means you should be more playful and not stay safe by playing one character. Mix your game a little. Be loose if the game calls to be loose, be tight if you need to be. When you become predictable to your opponents, then you become a cash cow and not a competitor. It takes discipline and skill to be good in mixing it up so you do not get frustrated and practice as much as you can.
Really Fun Poker Tip #4: Don't be the Small Fish that the Hammerheads Gobble Up
Your loss will be because you overestimate yourself. So what if you have been winning on a $3/6? That doesn't mean your skill with be at par on a table that competes at $10/20. Know your skill level and play your game as such that is the only way to win! When you are practicing online, do not sign up on a big poker site. Try those sites that do not ask for an entry fee or down payment.
Really Fun Poker Tip #5: If You Make Mistakes, Use that to Your Advantage
The only way that you can become good at poker is if you learn from your mistakes. So keep on practicing and learn from you all those mistakes.
