Online Casino: Texas Holdem Online Poker

This Texas Holdem game began to become quite popular after the game began to be televised. Suddenly the biggest tournaments in Texas Holdem were being shown on mainstream television stations such as ESPN. As the general public began to watch the game, they decided that they liked it more and more and wanted to know more about how this game was played.

Texas Holdem is just a variation of the other Poker games that came before it. The rules themselves are rather simple to learn once you get the hang of it. It is the strategy that keeps people playing the game every day.

In online Poker you start with between 2 and 9 people playing at a single table. Each of the players is dealt two cards from the deck face down. These cards are their cards alone and they do not share what these cards are with any other players. Before they are even dealt these cards though, each player is required to put in a small amount of their chips or money into the pot. Typically this is done in the form of a small blind and a big blind. The small blind requires the player to put in less money than the big blind, but the blinds rotate to each player around the table at the end of each hand.

If you are going to continue to play your hand, then you must put in at least the amount of the big blind into the pot. If you want to put in more this is called a raise. Once you have done this, then all other players who want to continue to play their hands must put in the amount that you have raised to. If you feel that you do not have good cards, then you do not have to continue to play and you put no money in the pot. This process is called folding.

Once all players have decided if they are going to continue playing and have put in the proper amount into the pot, then the dealer puts three cards in the middle of the table face up. These cards are known as community cards and all players at the table use these cards to try to form the best hand. If you are holding a King in your hand and another King is now one of the community cards, then you have a pair of Kings.

After those three cards have been dealt, then another round of betting opens up. You follow the same procedures that you did in the opening round of betting only with the players that have not already folded. If all players but one fold, then there is no need to go any farther at that point. If that happens, then the one remaining player has won the pot.

These steps are followed through two more community cards played out one at a time unless all but one players folds. If at least two players play out all the way through all five community cards, then those remaining players are required to show their cards. The player with the best hand wins the pot at that point. The game plays on like this the same way for as long as the players have predetermined (amount of time or until one player has all the money/chips).

Is It Legal to Play Online Poker in the United States?

Like many Poker fans, you may have been concerned about the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act last year. Does the Act make it illegal to play online Poker?

First of all, you should know that even before the Act was passed, online gambling was already deemed illegal by 11 states. I assume this means that the state laws deem online Poker to be illegal--I am not familiar with all of the state laws, but that is what I would conclude. The 11 states in which online gambling was deemed illegal--and remains so today--are Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, and Wisconsin. Let me repeat, online gambling remains illegal in these states. However, as far as I can tell, no one has ever been prosecuted by any state for gambling online.

In California, where I live, the law does not equate "Poker" with "gambling" but deems it game playing, and professional poker players are not deemed as gamblers, but as professional game players.

After the Act was passed, nothing actually changed with regards to the legality of online gambling. As I have said, it remains illegal in those 11 states. But the Act did not make online gambling illegal in the United States of America as a whole. Following this line of thinking, then logically there are 39 US states in which online gambling is legal, as it was before the Act was passed.

So what did the Act do? In spite of its name, it does not declare online gambling to be legal. Instead, it made it illegal for financial institutions in the US to allow the use of electronic fund transfers and credit or debit cards in connection with online gambling. So players can no longer make bets or collect winnings through these methods. Of course, most US banks and credit card companies already denied the use of their cards on online gambling sites. But the new law has placed even more restrictions on player's means of transferring funds to and from online gambling sites.

Nevertheless, there remain a number of online poker sites that accept real-money players from the United States. If you are a US citizen and you find yourself barred from one poker site, then don't fret--you are sure to find one that will allow you to play.

There is controversy, after all, on whether the new bill is even enforceable. After all, online poker sites are situated outside the United States. So how can a United States law be made to apply to them?

Is it legal to play online poker in the United States? The answer is yes, it is legal--at least in 39 out of the 50 states. But the new bill has made it a lot more difficult for US players to make money at it.

Watch The World Series Online - Watch The World Series Live Online

If your reading this article your probably looking for a way to watch the world series online and your in luck because I have been doing this every year even though I have been stuck in the office when the games are on.

I used to watch baseball a lot but due to shift changes at work I was missing all my games and more importantly the World Series so I started to look for a solution. My first idea was to get friends to tape the games for me but that usually resulted in them forgetting to do it or would tell me who won before I even got to see it.

Then one day while at the office I jumped on the computer and went on the Google search engine and looked up watch the World Series online and sure enough a program came up that worked well with my media player that came with the computer so I decided to get it.

This was one of the best choices I have ever made because I now can watch the World Series live online along with any other sport because the program has over 3000 channels that I can watch anytime I want.

If you watch alot of baseball you probably have some favorite teams I know I do. I hardly ever miss a game but now I never miss one and I believe this is how it should be when your a fan you have to support your team till the bitter end.

I not only never miss a game I put on my teams jersey and hat and even bring out my glove and ball before a game and set them on my computer desk for a good luck charm or support whatever way you want to put it.

Satellite Internet and Online Gaming: Does It Work?

Online gaming is one of the fastest growing trends in the world right now. With games such as Runescape boasting subscriber numbers of around a million and World of Warcraft exceeding 7 million active members, the total number of MMOG subscriptions is verging on the absurd, quickly approaching the 14 million mark worldwide[6/06, mmogchart.com]. This tremendous growth in the popularity of the online gaming industry has, in part, been fueled by the accessibility of high-speed broadband internet. A high-speed connection allows for a much more enjoyable game-play experience. Everyone knows that online games work exceptionally well on DSL and Cable internet connections, but what about the newer high-speed service satellite internet? As satellite internet is becoming more readily available and cost effective more and more rural dial-up customers are making the switch to cash in on the faster speeds and always on access. But, when it comes to online gaming many are concerned that their game-play experience will be less satisfactory, if they can even connect to play at all.

The reason for this concern is the issue of latency. Latency is an expression of how much time it takes for a packet of data to get from one designated point to another. This is direly important when it come to on-line gaming in that latency translates into the time that it takes from the moment that a button is pushed to when the action is performed in the game. Often this can mean the difference between life and death. With DSL and Cable the response time is almost immediate, being between 50milliseconds-150milliseconds. The latency for satellite internet is between 600milliseconds-800milliseconds. This may sound like the end of online gaming for someone who has just made the switch to satellite internet but it is not. Although this degree of latency does all but rule out first-person shooters there are a good number of MMOGs that operate well over a satellite internet connection. And, although the effects of latency can never be completely eliminated, there are ways in which to improve upon them. The simplest way to do this is by speeding up the way that one's computer handles and responds to information being transferred through the connection and by increasing the total amount of available bandwidth. Some operating systems have built in reserves on bandwidth that are non-essential to the functionality of most web applications, see link for a tweak http://www.wildblue.cc/wbforums/showthread.php?t=3323 .

By eliminating non-essential services i.e. bandwidth hogs that the average user never utilizes and dedicating more physical resources to the most used application can help tremendously. Minimizing the effects of latency down to the bare minimum allowed by the laws of physics enables one to play more online gaming that was before not workable and also speeds up the responses of other games that already do work. So, although there are limitations to on-line gaming over satellite internet there are also ways to improve upon game-play responsiveness and many games that will play well without operating system tweaks. Below is a list of online games for both console and PC that, according to subscribers that have tested and played them, do and do not work over satellite internet. This is not a definitive list of games guaranteed to work, so be cautious as results may vary.

Play Cluedo Game - How to Play Cluedo Game and Where to Play Clue Online Free

If you are a fan of the classic board game but have forgotten how to play Cluedo game I have written a brief summary of the game rules. Cluedo also known as Clue is a mystery detective game normally for 2 to 6 people to play. It is suitable for 8 year olds and up. The rules are simple and it only takes about 5 minutes to set up. This is a turn based dice game. But this doesn't mean this is a game of luck, as it does require skills of deduction and elimination plus a certain amount of deception like Poker. This makes it enjoyable for both children and adults.

How to Play Cluedo

Classic Clue starts with the murder of a Mr. Boddy at his Tudor Mansion. The aim of the game is to work out which room, with which weapon and by who the murder was committed. The variables involved in the investigation are the 9 rooms of the Tudor mansion, the 6 occupants of the house at the time the crime occurred and 6 possible weapons found around the house. To set up the Cluedo board game the cards are separated into the variables i.e. rooms, suspects and weapons. The cards are shuffled and without looking at them, one card from each of these 3 piles is selected at random and placed in the envelope. The aim is now for everyone to be the first to work out by elimination exactly what those 3 cards are. The rest of the cards are shuffled together and dealt out between the players. You also each get a detective notebook which is a checklist of all the cards. You have to tick off the cards you have in your hand. Next place the 6 weapons in the following places:

Dagger in the lounge Rope in the ballroom Lead Piping in the conservatory Candlestick in the dining room Revolver in the study Spanner/Wrench in the kitchen The other 3 of the 9 rooms of the board are: Hall, Billiard Room and Library. Then place the colored pieces to represent the 6 suspects on their corresponding color spots on the board. You play which ever character piece is nearest to you. The 6 characters or suspects and colors are normally:

Red for Miss Scarlet
White for Mrs White
Yellow for Colonel Mustard
Green for Reverend Green
Purple for Professor Plum
And Blue for Mrs Peacock

Now to play Cluedo game all the players roll the dice and the person with the highest roll of the dice starts first. Everyone then takes it in turns going round clockwise, to roll the dice and move the corresponding number of spaces on the board. The aim is to get into a room. When you are in a room you can make your suggestion, for example "I think it was Professor Plum in the Kitchen with the Rope". When you make your suggestion you must move the relevant pieces into the room you are suggesting. You put this theory to the person on your left. They then have to disprove it by showing you (only) one of the cards in you have suggested, so that you may tick it off your checklist. If he/she doesn't have any of the 3 cards in your theory you move onto the next person along. If he/she has any of them he/she must show you only one. If a person puts a theory to you, you must always show a card if you have it, but you only have to show them one. You can make a suggestion including cards you have in your hand, in order to eliminate other cards. This is also a good way of bluffing the other players as to your line of inquiry! Eventually, you will be able to make a definite suggestion as to what the 3 cards in the envelope are. But the aim is to be the first to do it. As you can see the Clue game rules are very simple and so you can pick up how to play Cluedo game very quickly. You'll find that it is an enjoyable game with many hours of fun.

Online Poker Bonuses

When you sign up at an online Poker site chances are you are eligible for an online Poker bonus. Almost every site offers an initial deposit bonus of some sort. The type of online poker bonus you're eligible for depends on the site. Each poker site has its own specific online poker bonus. With a little research you can see which bonus is the most beneficial to you.

Always read the fine print and details about the bonus. If you have any questions email the support staff. There are usually certain requirements before you can receive the poker bonus. At most poker sites, you must generate a minimum amount of rake or play a minimum amount of hands.

Some poker sites deliver the bonus in increment while others deliver the full amount once the requirements are fulfilled. Most sites are pretty fair with their poker bonus policies, but some are not. Please be very careful that you read the requirements before deciding to play at any poker site.

Playing for poker bonuses can be very lucrative. I usually recommend depositing the maximum amount. For example, if the bonus is 100% up to $200. I will deposit $200. I will then play the required amount of hands and usually end up with at least double my deposit. In fact, there are very few times that I didn't at least break even.

After you have fulfilled the requirements and have cashed out, it's best to simply deposit at another site and repeat the process. Poker players who play strictly play for bonuses are generally called "bonus whores". It's a great way to experience many different sites. I suggest taking notes and documenting your winnings so that you can always come back to play at your favorite poker sites that you won the most money at when they offer a reload bonus.

How Are Online Poker Tournaments Rigged?

Arguments, discussions, and much controversy have existed for several years on whether online Poker is rigged or not. Both sides claim the other side is wrong, and ultimately neither side has prevailed in presenting a credible enough or concrete proof that their theories are correct.

Is Online Poker Rigged?

However, there are simple ways to answer the question, are online poker tournaments rigged? That answer lies in the detectable patterns used by the poker sites, of which are known as poker algorithms. Several scandals broke in recent years where cheating and collusion was discovered by players that ultimately led the poker sites to add in special poker algorithms to prevent cheating and collusion by players.

Some of these algorithms will significantly alter the percentages, the winners, and the outcome of play in online poker. The reason is simple, internet poker is a computer-generated series of codes that is not truly random by any definition of the word. What that means is that by adding in code to the software, the poker sites are essentially changing the possible outcome and make the game less random and more predictable to a player that is AWARE of the patterns occurring in the program.

For example, have you ever noticed in the late stages of a tournament, a shortstack has not played a hand for maybe 20 or 30 hands, then all of a sudden he moves all in and gets called by one or more players. The shortstack will showdown a marginal hand while the callers will have a dominating hand and inevitably the shortstack doubles or triples up by winning with his marginal hand.

Secret Poker Algorithms

This is an obvious pattern often referred to as an equitable percentage algorithm used by the poker sites. The purpose of this algorithm is simply to ensure that a single player does not hold an unfair advantage over other players by constantly winning pots. Furthermore, it also prevents a player from dominating a table or tournament by limiting the number of wins a player may have.

In essence, if the poker site is using additional poker algorithms, regardless of their reasons, they effectively are promoting online poker tournaments that are rigged, because of their interference in the natural and statistical outcome of hands.

Several patterns and poker algorithms are used by the online poker sites to detect cheating and collusion as well as control other aspects of the game. It is important that if you wish to become successful in playing online poker and winning that you learn what these algorithms are and how you can simply defeat them. Otherwise, you will continue to fight a losing battle against a computer-generated program that is purposely designed to minimize your wins.

How To Deposit Money for Online Poker

When the United States government put a ban on playing for real money with online gambling sites it hurt a lot of people who used the services to make money. One of the reasons people think that this ban on online Poker betting was put into place was that the gambling industry was making so much money and the United States government wasn't able to tax it and get a cut. Whatever the reasons, those looking to still bet online for real money can sleep easy knowing that there are ways to still do this.

The most popular and convenient way to deposit money onto these online gambling websites is to buy a prepaid Visa card from your local convenience store. These cards come in the increments of $25, $50, $100 and you can pay in cash to buy the cards and have them activated. What these cards allow you to do is that they are looked at as a credit card but are not reloadable.

The convenience of this is that you go to your local convenience store and purchase the amount you want to deposit. The cashier will activate your card at the register and you will then go home and put it to use. Once you deposit all the money on the card it is worthless and you can basically throw it out since there is no money left on it.

The ease of use with these prepaid Visa cards makes this an easy method for deposit real money into your Poker account. Because these prepaid cards are run by Visa they are accepted anywhere Visa is accepted. It would be a bad business move to ban all credit cards around the world so because they will not be doing that anytime soon, I cannot see this deposit method stopping from working.

How to Use Online Poker RNG Secrets

Although a large number of people play Texas holdem online everyday, many of those players do not have a thorough understanding of how the online game differs from a live game. The most significant difference is the computer-generated codes used in the online Poker RNG, and how those codes affect the outcome of each hand.

Primarily, since Poker sites do not have the ability to actually deal out cards as in a live game, they are forced to use a series of computer generated programs to execute this task. One of the main programs used is a RNG (Random Number Generator). The RNG, depending on which site, uses a series of associated techniques to attempt to generate a truly random shuffled deck of cards.

Because of the advanced techniques poker sites use to arrive at their own shuffled deck sequence, it is nearly impossible to predict what cards are coming out and what your opponents are holding. However, it is not difficult to predict the play and expected outcome in many situations.

Although every major poker site will claim their RNG program is fair and impervious to any potential hijacking or cracking, the reality is that the RNG is often not the culminating factor in what will occur on the flop, river or turn. That decision is based largely on additional factors, such as the players in the game, additional poker algorithms used to induce action and finally on the poker sites own use of anti-collusion and anti-cheating subroutines.

The addition of these extraneous programs, algorithms, and subroutines dramatically changes the outcome of each hand and ultimately changes the true statistical odds. For example, in a recent independent study of more than 250,000 hand histories from one poker site revealed that hands that were a major underdog on the flop made a winning hand by the river more than 20% of the time.

That percentage represents a large amount of bad beats in poker that is not usually evident in live play. This has prompted many poker players to conclude that online poker is rigged and that the RNG is flawed. In truth, the RNG is rarely ever flawed, as the RNG is not responsible for potential bad beats as much as the additional poker algorithms used by many sites.

The secret to using the online poker RNG is to be aware of the potential hands that can be made on the flop and the potential of your hand to survive a bad beat. In many cases, knowing when a flush is expected to occur while you are holding two pair may prompt you to avoid committing too many chips to the pot.

The perfect strategy to use is to learn how the software works, to obtain as much information on the statistics of the game and use that information to make your decision as to whether you should continue in the hand or not. The best defense to maintain your chipstack is in avoiding getting a bad beat, and that can easily be accomplished by understanding how and when a bad beat may occur.

Online Poker Basics

One of the greatest innovations of mankind is Poker, as it is probably the most popular type of card game ever invented. It is played by betting on the value of a card combination in your possession, which is called a "hand," and placing that bet in a central pot. The winner usually is the one who has the highest hand or whoever makes the other players fold, either by bluff or by an aggressive transparency.

But of course, you already know that, being the wily and cunning Poker player that you are.

However, there is much to say about online poker gaming and how it is strikingly identical and at the same time different from a real poker game. Below are some information about online poker that should serve as a guide for beginners:

First, online poker is played the same way as, for the lack of a better term, offline poker. The rules are pretty much the same, save some regulations imposed by individual poker site owners, which are not very often. Most of the time, the rules on Texas Holdem, Stud, or Draw poker are essentially the same online.

Second, since it is online, it transcends national boundaries and you can play against anyone who has an Internet connection anywhere in the world. Online poker also has the attributes of a normal chat room, were people can interact the way they do on most chat sites. While you can play against some of the worlds best poker players, the downside is that you are also exposed to playing with the worst. Don't you just hate it when you see amateurs hitting in the flop?

Third, you can play for real money or just play money. Most poker sites have their own system of how players can play for real money. Some use credit cards, money orders, bank transfers and the like. If you are going to play for real money, just make sure you play in a credible poker site. Joining one can sometimes be complicated. So be sure to visit the FAQs section of the site and read their terms and conditions carefully. But if you don't plan on playing for real money, then you can still enjoy online poker.

Fourth, one of the main differences of online and offline poker is that you cannot see your opponents in the game. You cannot see their "tells," which means you cannot estimate if a player is bluffing or if he really has a good hand. You cannot see your opponent flinch at your bet, or at the flop. However, you can still observe their betting patterns, and that is where you unleash your poker skills.

Now that you have learned some of the basics of online poker, then you are good to go. The key to online poker is the same as it is in offline games: you should not overdo it. Take everything in moderation and be sure to choose the right poker site to trust your money with. Who knows, the next time you go all in online, you might just win the big pot.

Understanding How Online Poker Site Program Software Works

It is obvious that there are several differences in an online Poker room and a live Poker Casino. Most of these differences are easily seen and transparent to the general poker playing public. However, many contrasts are not visible or apparent while playing poker online. The major variance between online poker and live Casino poker is the cards and how they are delivered to the player.

There are great advantages to playing in a live Casino as the integrity of the game is rarely put into question, since the shuffling, the dealing and the 'eye in the sky' keeps the game fair and makes it nearly impossible to compromise that integrity. However, online poker lacks many of these protections for the player, in that a computer program achieves the shuffling and dealing of the cards.

Therefore, an understanding of how online poker sites software program works is crucial to any player that desires to put money into an online poker account in the hopes of building a bankroll and cashing out. Simply because, if you understand how the software works, you can be assured that you are not subjected to illicit attempts by other players, the poker room or even the software to cheat you out of your hard earned money.

All online poker sites use a variation of a random number generator to create a shuffled deck. Although this may appear to be sufficient, many times over the last several years, theses shuffling algorithms were broken and subsequently gave cheaters an opportunity to exploit the game and other players. The discovery of the cheaters by affected poker sites, prompted them to create additional poker algorithms to prevent attempts at cheating and colluding.

Those algorithms would control the action at a table to ensure that one player is not able to win every single hand as was the case in the Absolute poker scandal. In that instance, a single player won nearly 98% of all hands played in a major tournament, beating out several hundred other players. Mathematically it is impossible to win every hand in a tournament, and therefore the poker sites installed software to prevent this from happening.

In addition, the online poker sites software programs is able to detect a player who may be colluding with another player and therefore the program has the ability to alter the outcome of the cards to prevent that player from winning. This same software has the ability to detect poker bots as well. In the case of a poker bot, the software will take into consideration every individual action by a player and logically compare that to determine if the player in fact is a bot or a real person.

The problem with these additional poker algorithms is that they inherently affect a skilled player's ability to consistently cash. The fact that any alteration to the statistical outcome of poker hands is tantamount to cheating by the house. In other words, it is no different than if a live dealer were setting the deck to allow a particular player to win or force a player to lose.

So, what can we do as poker players to ensure we are getting a fair game and not subjected to subversive online poker software programs that essentially change the outcome? One solution is to learn the patterns and flaws in the software and then adjust your game to circumvent their detection and of course, the other answer is to only play live poker at a trusted casino.

How To Beat Online Poker Algorithms

It is a well-known fact that online Poker sites use algorithms to control the random generation of Poker hands. That fact has caused many players to question the veracity and accuracy of true statistical odds in Texas holdem sites. However, there are ways to beat the Poker algorithms as this article will reveal.

Some will question why does the worst hand win on online poker, especially after receiving a bad beat. However, the reality is not that the worst poker hand always wins, the truth is that the online-poker algorithms are designed to make a deterministic result according to normalized odds.

Poker Statistics

What that basically means is that the statistical norms for any poker hand must be maintained in order for the game to appear fair. For example in a 7 card game such as Texas Holdem (2 hole cards and 5 cards on the community board), there are a total of 133,784,560 possible combinations that can be made. (Although holdem only uses the best 5 cards, 7 cards are available to make up the best 5 card hand. Therefore, the statistical probabilities are derived from all 7 cards).

Of the 133,784,560 combinations, a flush will statistically be dealt out 4,047,644 times, (or 3.025494% of the time). Therefore, in order to appear random, the online poker algorithms will ensure that across all poker tables over time, a flush will certainly occur 3.025494% of the time. Notwithstanding the fact that the flush could actually occur 20 or 30 times consecutively at your poker table, as long as the long-term statistical odds are maintained.

Poker Bad Beats

For this reason, you may witness too many suckouts in online poker and even become a victim of a bad beat. The fact is that true randomness is unattainable in a computer generated game such as online-poker and additional poker algorithms were put in place to maintain an air of integrity and randomness. Although it is unfair that poker sites are using these poker codes to make the game appear fair and subsequently create a large number of bad beats, there is a solution that allows you to do something about it.

That solution is to learn how the online poker algorithms work and how you can potentially avoid a poker bad beat. As the poker site must maintain statistically normalized odds by using algorithms, you can use those same odds to prevent losing.

Math and Poker Algorithms

By taking a mathematical approach to the online poker game, you can beat the computer generated poker hands and ultimately become a much better player. The problem is in the poker algorithms and the solution is in knowing HOW they work.

Online Poker Cheats - Beating the Software

Ever since the advent of online Poker, numerous claims have surfaced on methods to crack or hack the software that runs the sites in an effort to help players win through online Poker cheats. Most of these claims center on the Random Number Generator (RNG), and exploiting the vulnerabilities of the RNG.

However, the RNG is as impervious as Fort Knox, and attempts to predict or hack a poker site RNG is at best a fantasy. Yet, there are ways to exploit the software used in Online Poker and to actually use these inherent flaws to beat the online poker games.

The reason it is impossible to break the RNG is that the seed used by the online poker rooms can be as varied as using a white noise generator, advanced algorithms to select that seed number and constant changing of the seed number at intermittent intervals.

The mistake many people make is they believe the RNG is the culprit in determining the outcomes of hands. In reality, the RNG is only responsible for selecting a shuffled deck of cards; while associated subroutines and algorithms are the actual deterministic factors in the outcome of a hand.

Knowing what these additional subroutines and algorithms are doing is the secret to being able to crack the code to online poker and produce winning outcomes for you. It is important to understand that the fallacy that the RNG determines the outcome is what poker sites would like players to believe. After all, if players knew how to avoid bad beats, how to deliver bad beats and how to guarantee deeper cashes and bigger wins, the game would not appear to be fair.

Think how much more fair the game would be if your opponent's flush draw didn't get there every time on the river, or if your KK was not always up against AA, or even better if your Aces did not constantly get cracked by donkey plays.

There is some truth to the worst hand winning consistently, however, if you know how it happens and why the program does this, you are able to manipulate the software to your advantage and score more wins!

Beginners Guide of Online Poker

How to Play Poker Online

Players who are new to Poker may be wondering if fold means bending or a small blind is a small guy who's blind. It is also possible that you have been playing land-based Poker for some time now so at least you know some Poker lingo but haven't really started playing online yet. Either way it is important to learn how poker rooms over the Internet work by observing proper protocol and procedures at the onset. Currently, Texas Hold'em is one of the most popular poker variations you can find over the Internet. Here are some things you should keep in mind when you start sitting down in one of the poker rooms.

Best Game for Beginners

Many individuals watch poker tournaments over national television and this has led to the popularity of Texas Hold'em. These matches are generally No Limit games which are not necessarily the best game for you right now. As a beginner, it would be best to start playing with low limit games first where betting rounds are more structured and bets have limits for each round. Most of poker games with low limits come with betting structures of $2-4, $3-6 and $4-8. This helps you gain better control of your bankroll as you learn. But as you gain more experience while playing low limit poker games, you may then move up to games with higher limits for a shot at bigger pots.

Games for Fun and More

Online poker is very friendly with novice players. You will find numerous resources at your disposal that can help you get started with practicing poker games online without as much chips involved just to learn the game. There are articles from pro players one could read on or live help from customer support who can help you figure out which buttons to push on the page and more.

It is also recommended that you try playing poker games for free/fun. With this functionality, online Casinos provide poker players a way to play a game of poker to learn the ropes of the game without going to the cashier to fund an account yet. These games help you with basic strategies to practice on and see where it is best applied. You can practice on the advice you read regarding positioning and how it affects your bets and so on and so forth. Take the time to master the game and you will find a good place to enjoy while earning at the same time with poker games.

Texas Hold'Em Poker - Online Poker for Beginners

This article talks about Texas Hold'em only simply because of the fact that it is now the most popular form of online Poker worldwide. Likewise if you would enter any off-line Casino and sit down on a Poker table it is very likely to be Texas Hold'em again. Within Texas Hold'em you have the options of playing tournaments or cash games, limit or no limit. Playing tournaments in usually not very different from playing cash games in terms of the Poker rules applied, yet your Poker strategy has to be quite different if you ever plan to be a successful player in the future. Further known poker games are Card-Stud, Omaha High/Low, Draw-Poker and Razz where any of these game types would need to be described in a separate article.

My personal point of view is that Texas Hold'em is the most exciting and easiest to learn variation of poker and therefore ideal for beginners. You get a lot of action and there is a huge number of possibilities to win or lose a hand. A famous saying is: "You only need one minute learn Texas Hold'em but you need your whole life to master it".

Dealer, hole cards and blinds

The dealer shuffles a deck of 52 cards without Joker. The game can be played with a minimum of two and a maximum of 11 players. The dealer is usually a player himself. The dealer button moves clockwise from round to round. The dealer button is a big chip that lies in front of the dealer. The button also defines the two players that are forced to place a bet (blinds). The dealer also another function: He needs to push the game and make sure that everything is running correctly. He is responsible for the correct bets and that the two players left from the dealer place the small and big blind before the start of every single round. Then each player is given two cards (hole cards) by the dealer and the first betting round is about to start.

Betting Round:

The first betting round begins with the player left of the big blind. In the first betting round only the two players with the small and big blind are skipped as their first bets are the blinds. The first player after the big blind is under the gun. What that means is that he is forced to do the first move without having any opportunity at all to gather information from other players.

In poker, there is basically a choice between three

possible moves:

• you give up the hand, also known as 'fold'.

•'call', also known as 'check' which is only possible in case no betting was done before.

• 'bet', 'raise' or 're-raise' that means betting any amount in no-limit

Poker Betting Patterns - Your Key To Winning Online Poker

Playing winning online Poker means learning to analyze betting patterns. Remember that people's habits create "tells" that you need to pay attention to. Online Poker is now coming into its adolescence, and the automated part of it can be your key to detecting sudden changes in another player's behavior.

Many online players are now regulars, which means they get into rhythms. Some of these rhythms may have weak points that may be exploited, but it's the breaks in rhythm you need to spot. Learn to notice that another player is getting reckless and is playing beyond his/her ability. Even more important, watch for signs that a bad player is about to play very badly.

Players who rant, have their chat revoked, gloat after a winning pot, challenge a "heads-up" after losing twice in a row (or lose badly several times in an hour or so) are folks who are showing their limitations. It's up to you to figure out how to help them give you more of their money. A good target can be the player who lectures about how to play, but is very wrong, short term. They seldom last long and are often first time players.

It's the automated functions of online poker that give you advantages you cannot have in a Casino. Auto-check, auto-bet, auto-raise, multi-table play, etc., all mean you can detect changes in the pattern of play that are unique to online Poker. Knowing the meaning of a specific change can help you make the long-term money a player with self control deserves.

Generally speaking, any time a person who has been on "auto-pilot" and suddenly appears to have switched to manual is giving you a tell. Only your experience and brains will allow you to tell if it means something, without confusing it with "it means the same thing whenever it happens."

Online Poker - Poker Hands That Are a Danger

Online Poker is usually a more difficult game to beat than playing in a card room or Poker room.

Poker hands that are a particular danger online are those times when you are trying to steal the blinds.

For example, everyone folds to you on the button. You peek at your cards and find J-8 offsuit. It is not a great hand, but it is good enough to raise with, because it is good enough to take a shot at stealing the blinds.

Stealing the blinds is a well-known move by all poker players. If you get called when you try to steal, you can't just give up. If you improve your hand, you should bet the flop. If you don't improve your hand, do not make a knee-jerk continuation bet.

Ask yourself these questions:

o What range of hands do you put your opponents on?
o Do you think the flop helped their hands?
o What are their betting patterns from the blinds? Do they fold or defend? And, how do they play on the flop?
o Did you pick up any tells?
o If you make a bet on the flop, what hand are you representing?

Online poker makes the decision even harder because:

o It is difficult to put your opponents on a range of hands, since you can't see how they acted when they looked at and played their hand pre-flop.
o It is difficult to know if the flop helped your opponents hands, since you can't see how they reacted to the flop.

Overall, all of the emotional responses you may get from watching a player at a brick and mortar Casino is lost when you play online. When you are doing the stealing online with air, it can be a more dangerous situation.

Here is the poker moves when you get called on a steal and the flop missed your hand:

If you are against one opponent you should lean toward making that bet. Or, you should check the flop and bet on the turn when your opponent checks.

If you are against two opponents, you should lean toward checking your hand. If your opponents show weakness by checking the turn, then you can bet.

Poker Book Report: Killer Poker Online 2 by John Vorhaus

John Vorhaus is unlike any other Poker author in that he is first and foremost a writer, but even more, a philosopher about the game of Poker. His Killer Poker Books have all stood out from the competition in a way that other writers can't really touch and nor should they try. For doing so would be like Montel Williams emulating Plato. John Vorhaus is different. His writing about the game evokes self discovery as opposed to hand-to-hand combat, ala Harrington. Vorhaus approaches this angle with an introspect few of us players would have delved into otherwise. The thing is, you can know all there is to know about NL Hold'em, but to be ultimately successful, an understanding of yourself is critical to that end.

Enter Killer Poker Online 2. This is the 4th book in the Killer Poker Series that focuses primarily on no limit holdem and tournament online play. Now focusing on these games doesn't mean chapters of hand analyzing and "what would you do next" scenarios. It means uncovering your desires, emotions, greed, fear and other factors that propel you into such confrontations. In effect, Killer Poker gives you the power over such emotions to make the right decision in a game critical intersect. Does this sound confusing? That goes with the territory of discovering yourself as a poker player and a human.

I am not saying it's a tough read to understand, but you surely will find yourself rereading numerous segments of this book as if you were about to complete a huge puzzle in your mind and were only a few pieces away. In fact, In Killer Poker style, the writing goes back and forth from philosophical statements like "Deception is what you do to others, delusion is what you do to yourself" then to chat box ignorance like "can u be my bich?", all the while keeping you entertained, entrained, and thinking about your game like never before.

Killer Poker Online 2 includes some really intense chapters on sit and go tournaments, multi-table tournaments, and heads-up sit and go tournaments each of which were the value of this book alone. Now I don't mean cookie-cutter strategies. Vorhaus advocates your own strategy for each and every situation, but by adding his own humility, skills, and experience to these topics you leave each chapter with a frame of mind about yourself and your competitors that you absolutely know will give you an edge.

Killer Poker Online 2 is an advanced strategy book to be used with others in developing yourself into a consistent online poker winner. By giving this entertaining, but deep thinking prose a chance to come into your game, it will certainly lead to a better bankroll. Mr. Vorhaus, please, don't stop!

I can also add here that Will Wheaton's foreword was as interesting as many other poker books in their entirety, and can easily see a great piece of work from him in the future.
